Washington D.C. trip

On Thursday last week Tim, his parent’s and I boarded an Amtrak train bound for the nation’s Capital. We were there for an extra long weekend (Thursday to Sunday) but we didn’t have nearly enough time to see and do everything*. Note: if you are planning a trip to D.C you really need to spend a week to make sure you do everything properly. But although we were time poor, tired and cold we still all had a fantastic time. Our highlights included wandering around the streets in Georgetown, the trip to Arlington National cemetery to see the eternal flame at the John F. Kennedy Gravesite and the Tomb of the unknown soldiers and exploring all the memorials dedicated to ex-president’s, learning about the forefathers of American and their passion for freedom and equality.

{The White House}

{The Korean War Veterans Memorial. The movement of the figures is amazing, it makes you feel like they are about to start walking}

{Pretty Christmas decorations line the streets}

{At the Lincoln National Memorial}

{Arlington Memorial Amphitheater at the Arlington National Cemetery}

{A cheeky squirrel eating french fries from a bin when we stopped to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate}

{Walking along Pennsylvania Ave at dusk}

{Tim and I and the Washington Monument}

*Tim and I plan to go back when the weather is warmer and the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
