{Inspiration} Wear-to-work

Since heading back to work I have been on the look out for wear-to-work clothes. I have never been a huge fan of the suit so I need to find outfits that are suitably corporate but show enough personality to make dressing in the morning fun. In Sydney I would wear a dress almost every other day but recently I’ve been drawn to separates, especially trousers.

{Stripes} Any type any colour

I have had an infatuation with stripes for some time now (see here and here) and can happily say that the trend* is here to stay for at least spring 2012 anyway. The high street shops are filled with stripes – any colour, any width and any item of clothing imaginable. Here are some inspirational pictures including a peak at my own collection. One word – obsessed.

*I would normally say that the stripe is a classic and staple in anyones wardrobe (and yes I love a well executed stripe on a man) but this season the high street stores have taken it to another level.

On another note it’s finally Friday, yay!! This week was a good week, I finally got my work rights so I can start job hunting – btw does anyone like looking for a new job because I find the whole process rather difficult? Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Bag lust

Mulberry Alexa

I have been lusting over the Mulberry Alexa bag since it hit the shelves last year. To me it is the perfect accessory but retailing in Australia for AU$1,950 this is slightly out of my price range. A girl can always dream can’t she?

Alexa Chung, the muse for the bag, has replaced her vintage Mulberry men’s briefcase for the Alexa.

Olivia Palermo shows that she isn’t all prep and classic style.

The Alexa is high on my ‘To buy’ list but in the meantime the Old Skool bag by Spanish designer Su-Shi could make a very good alternative given that it selling online for AU$280 (including shipping).

The gorgeous Mireia from MyDailyStyle shows us that the more economical satchel can look just as amazing as the designer bag.

Bright colours

I don’t tend to wear bright colours as I’m a little too conservative, but what better way to brighten up a cold and dark winter’s day with a pop of bright colour in your outfit.

Here are three of my favourite bloggers wearing some outrageously bright colours – mostly of the pink variety. I told you pink is back.

Winter is coming

I don’t really like the cold, I’m more of a warm weather and beach kind of girl but with winter fast approaching it’s time to start thinking about my winter wardrobe.

One of the best things about dressing for winter are the boots and jackets. This season I am after a beautiful pea coat that will keep me warm on the way to work when the weather is cool. This Fleurette Loro Piana Wool Peacoat Exclusively found at Nordstrom looks just perfect and it also comes in red or Camel.

I love boots and you can never have too many, can you? I feel in love with the VPL Cut off boots when I saw the gorgeous Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere wear them in a feature by Apartment Therapy.

As I think I am a little too conservative for the VPL I ended up finding the Ada ankle boot from Witchery which I swiftly purchased and will be wearing as soon as the weather cools done a little more.

Finally, this year I would like to find a stylish but practical beanie. Nicole Richie seems to have found it – the Rick Owen beanie hat. Since 2008 Nicole has been wearing the Rick Owen beanie hat to the gym, with a pair of heels or to the Coffee Bean. I haven’t yet been able to find one like it but I will continue to look. For all the photos of Nicole in the Rick Owen beanie check them out over at Star Style Inc. This is one of my favourites – with heels.
